Watch Party: Let's Make a Sandwich

Relive Guerilla opera’s first "Let's Make a Sandwich" production in 2014 commissioned composers Rudolf Rojahn (Ouroboros) and Curtis K Hughes (Rarebit) to write micro-operas inspired by the same 1950s information video. We performed each opera twice under two different directors, Copeland Woodruff and Giselle Ty, with completely different production design, giving the audience insight into the collaborative process in creating new opera, and demonstrating how there is truly no final, definitive version of any opera.

A time capsule of corporate America in the 1950s the informational video, Let's Make a Sandwich, produced by the American Gas Company, is meant to inspire young women to get more "creative" in the kitchen when entertaining their male guests. “Sally Gasco” and her mother “spice up” a tuna melt with their new double-boiler on their gas stove. What is more American than a Sandwich?
