The Moose is an opera about love, the absence of love, culture, and holding on to things (perhaps longer than we should?). Infinite thanks to the amazing performers and designers of Guerilla Opera (rockstars, one and all).
ABOUT THE COMPOSER
Jeremy Rapaport-Stein is a composer based in Philadelphia. His work explores improvisation, vocality, memory, euphoria, and obsolete modes of audio communication through concert music and installations. Jeremy’s music has been performed by Departure Duo, Yarn/Wire, line upon line percussion, PRISM Saxophone Quartet, Megalopolis Saxophone Orchestra, ~Nois, Iktus Percussion, Cisum Percussion, loadbang, Sound Icon, Guerilla Opera, New Opera West, Lydian String Quartet, Ludovico Ensemble, Quatuor Bozzini, Duo Cortona, Boston New Music Initiative, and Sō Percussion. Recent projects include new works for Odds and Ends Trio and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.
Jeremy holds a BA from Swarthmore College and an MFA in music theory and composition at Brandeis University, where he has taught courses in musicianship, sound studies, and writing. He has held residencies at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts and Crosstown Arts in Memphis. In addition to his musical interests, he is passionate about language education and specializes in working with young adult English language learners.
