Guerilla Opera, in collaboration with the Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library, presents multisensory listening experiences on “Listening Thursdays.” By engaging a combination of senses, these virtual events offer a deeper and richer experience using taste, smell, touch and movement to enhance the emotional impact of music from brand new operas!
A first listen to “Island of Hope, Island of Tears” by composer Gabriele Vanoni and librettist Ewa Chrisciel. This world premiere opera uses the actual stories and voices of immigrants that have come through Ellis Island.
You will get to meet the composer and ask questions! For this experience we ask you to bring an object that represents who you are or that reminds you of home. Don’t worry if you don’t have time to get that favorite item, or if you don’t have it with you. Imagination can be equally as strong and you’ll still get to share with the group.
